Knowledge of God’s Word is important. By itself, however, knowledge of God’s Word is useless. Christ’s Disciples must know His Words – all of His Words – and obey them. Obedience motivated by a heart full of love and devotion for Jesus Christ is the mark of a true disciple. This kind of obedience is missional at its core and has the power to change the world.

The mark of a true disciple is his firsthand knowledge of Jesus Christ and his acquired skill in the GOOD NEWS of making Jesus known to others based on His instantaneous and powerful self-revelation and vision in his LIVE, perfect and transfigurative death on the cross (Matt. 16: 13-28; 17: 1-13; 26: 26-29, 63-64; 27: 20-56; 28: 18-20). AMEN!
Paul

@ Ephrem – Thanks for your input. Help me understand how this definition reconciles with John 14:12-26 and James 2:18-26.
I may be mistaken, but it seems that your definition allows for knowledge of Christ, experience of Christ, and proclamation of Christ as marks of discipleship. Surely, those are all fruit of being a disciple and necessary things and are acts of obedience themselves, but I don’t think they encompass all of what it means to be an obedient follower of Christ. Obedience is much more than those.
